Brandedmedia - Dieting DVD's

November 29th 11, 11:39

The packaging content of the DVD has been dieting madly since 2006. Now it is quite normal to see DVDs and especially multi-disc DVD sets that have packaging reduced by up to a half of the original size but retain its branding and product information. This drive to make packaging smaller has been spearheaded since 2006 by America’s Warner Home Video and A&E, with many others following suit worldwide. In 2011, the expected size of a DVD/Blu-ray disc is now 11-mm thick, considerably slimmed down from the original 15-mm.

In addition to the price consideration, smaller size units mean retailers can display more products and variations in terms of design can be introduced to differentiate between HD DVD, DVD and Blu-ray discs.
